UDHAMPUR: Fifteen people have died and 20 others were injured, six of them critically, when a bus they were travelling in rolled down into a deep gorge in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
The passenger bus, which was on its way to Udhampur from Latti belt, skidded off the road and rolled down into the gorge in Maroti belt in the district, officials said.
"Fifteen people have died and 20 others are injured. Six people are in critical condition," Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal told Press Trust of India.
The causalities are expected to increase, she said, adding that, 15 bodies have been recovered so far.
"The injured are being hospitalised and choppers have been requisitioned to airlift the critically injured people to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu from Mantalie belt of Udhampur," Ms Mudgal said.
